About MyFirstWebsite
We believe everyone should be able to have a place of their own on the web, without learning HTML or paying a web designer.
MyFirstWebsite started in the spring of 2006, when two friends who taught computer classes at a community center kept hearing the same question: "How do I make a website?" Their students had photos to share, small businesses to promote and clubs to organize, but every tool they tried was either too complicated or covered in advertising.
So they built their own. The first version of the editor went online in October 2006 with eight templates and a guestbook. Today more than 400,000 websites have been made with MyFirstWebsite, by grandparents, Little League coaches, church groups, garage bands, bakeries, quilters and fishing guides in over 120 countries.
