Build your first site in 10 minutes
This guide walks you through making a simple website from start to finish. You'll need about ten minutes and a few photos saved on your computer.
Step 1: Choose your address and design
After you sign up, pick an address for your site, like smithfamily.myfirstwebsite.dev. Then choose a design from the gallery. Don't worry too much: you can change it later.
Step 2: Add a title and some text
- Click on "Your Site Title" at the top of the page and type the name of your site.
- Click on the welcome text and replace it with a few sentences about yourself, your family or your business.
- Use the toolbar to make words bold, italic or into a link.
Step 3: Add a picture
- In the Elements tab on the left, find Picture.
- Drag it onto your page, under your text.
- Click Upload and choose a photo from your computer.
Step 4: Add more pages
Open the Pages tab and click Add Page. Most people start with an About page, a Photos page and a Contact page. Drag pages up and down to change the order of your menu.
Step 5: Publish!
Click the green Publish button at the top right. Your site is now live. Send the address to your friends and family!
Tip
Changes aren't visible to visitors until you click Publish, so feel free to experiment.
